Ellen and Jonathan Goco
Owners/Directors/Instructors, Ballroom & Latin Dance

The working partnership of Dance Unlimited’s dynamic duo is a success story of a husband and wife team
that found enhancement in their life together through ballroom dancing. The same motivation has propelled
them in sharing their triumphs with singles and couples alike who find ballroom dancing a welcome
refreshment amidst their daily grind. Jonathan and Ellen began dancing in 1994 under the impressive
tutelage of danceworld icon Bob Knox of El Cerrito, California. After Bob’s sudden demise, Dance Unlimited
was opened as this inspiring couple pursued a joint teaching career as a tribute to Bob’s heritage of
meaningful interpretation of music through the art of dancing.  In addition to providing instruction at Dance
Unlimited, Jonathan and Ellen teach dance at Las Positas Community College.  You can find Jonathan and
Ellen adorning the front cover of the 1994 edition of “Dancing USA” magazine.
About Us

Our studio is a family environment where we welcome beginners and advanced dancers alike.  We
introduce dance in a way where the unfamiliar quickly becomes a welcomed friend, where we are able
to cross boundaries of time, tradition, and culture, and where dance originates not from one’s legs but
from one’s spirit.  We occasionally offer opportunities for performances, competitions, or both in order
to provide those students who are interested with the dance experience in its various forms.  Our
approach to dance is to equip our students with skill and technique, while simultaneously educating
our students about dance culture, dance history, and the impact of dance as a whole.  We want our
students to leave each class with a sense of personal growth and physical reward as well as a deeper
appreciation for dance as a sport as well as an art.
"We should consider every day lost on which we have
not danced at least once."--Nietzsche
